Promote better understanding among administrations and regulators, at all levels, of the real impact of swimming pools on natural resources, as well as their effects on people’s wellbeing. This helps ensure that regulatory measures —especially in drought contexts —take proportionality criteria into account and, where appropriate, include exemptions for pools used for community or therapeutic purposes, or those that meet certain sustainability standards.

Promote the development of pool sustainability solutions and certifications that enhance efficiency in the use of water, energy, and other resources, and support recognition of pools as elements with positive environmental and social impact.

Encourage regulations that incentivize the adoption of innovative technologies aimed at reducing and optimizing the consumption of water, energy, and chemicals (for example, covers, low-salinity salt chlorinators, or rainwater reuse systems).

Promote initiatives and programs that facilitate the modernization of pools, both private and community-based, encouraging the adoption of more sustainable solutions.
