The initiative’s work to promote efficient water use is expected to be completed by 2022
Fundació Fluidra, Fluidra´s charitable foundation, has launched a joint project with the Pious Schools to transform a 25-hectare (62 acre) area of land located in Karang, southern Senegal, into a profitable farm for the local community, one of the poorest in the country.
The profits from this project, called KAG-25, will be invested back into the community. Students will receive professional training for four years at the region’s agricultural schools, gaining work experience at the farm.
The foundation, created by the world’s leading pool and wellness company, seeks to empower the local community through training in agriculture and eventual food autonomy, while investing in the entrepreneurial and economic skills of more than 2,000 students who attend these schools.
“KAG-25 is one of the Fundació Fluidra’s leading projects. One of its cornerstones focuses on improving accessibility, awareness and training on the sensible use of water, a scarce resource and a source of life”, explains Joan Planes, President of Fundació Fluidra.
Founded in 2016, the foundation draws on the expertise in water that Fluidra has acquired during its 50 years of existence and its initiatives are developed around both the themes of water and culture. With this in mind, the foundation’s activities align with two central commitments: a social commitment and a cultural commitment, with special focus on promoting music as an educational tool that brings meaning to people’s lives.
