October 5, 2011Sudan's ambassador to Spain visited the drinking water purification plant
today in Abrera, one of the most advanced in Europe, which has a capacity for

Fluidra, the listed Spanish multinational group devoted to developing applications for
the sustainable use of water received a visit today from the ambassador of the
Republic of the Sudan to Spain at the drinking water purification plant in Abrera.
The ambassador, Tarig H. Abusalih, showed a great deal of interest in the technology
used in the Catalan plant and told Fluidra's general manager for the NEEMEA region,
Ignacio Elburgo, that he was looking into introducing similar ones in his country.
Africa is a priority for Fluidra, which has branch offices in Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria and
South Africa, where it has offices in Johannesburg and, since last July, in Cape Town,
South Africa's second largest financial centre.
It is hoped that the visit from the ambassador of Sudan will strengthen the company’s
trade links with this country, which has planned major works to improve the quality of
its water for its population.
The ambassador of Sudan praised the facilities at the plant in Abrera, which has a
capacity for treating 345,000 m 3 /day (4 m 3 /s) and has a desalination plant that
improves the quality of water by means of a process of electrodialysis reversal (EDR).
