Fluidra brings the business world closer to academia
April 27, 2012The need of a close cooperation between both worlds was manifested during a
visit of a delegation of University teachers to Trace Logistics in Maçanet de la
Selva, and the Cepex factory in la Garriga.
Fluidra, a Spanish listed multinational group with the commitment to develop
applications for the sustainable use of water received a visit of a delegation of more
than 35 University teachers yesterday, in the frame of the cooperation program
University and Company of FemCat. Eloi Planes, Chief Executive Officer of Fluidra
showed the facilities of Trace Logistics in Maçanet de la Selva, one of the most
modern logistic centers in Europe, and Cepex in La Garriga (Barcelona), the
manufacturer of valves and fittings of different plastic materials.
The FemCat program represents an excellent opportunity for the teachers to get to
know better the Catalan business network, and for the business executives to get
closer to the concerns of the University world, two spheres which, as it was verified,
often live backwards. The group detected opportunities to establish a greater
cooperation, this was the aspect that was most repeated during the visit. Business
executives, as well as University students ‘need the same values’ like hope, energy
and creativity to guide them in their daily work.
The Program University and Company of FemCat was created in 2010 to bring the
business world closer to the University and help create bonds between companies and
Academic and Research Centers. Since then, the program has had 5 editions in which
the teachers from the Polytechnic University of Catalunya and the University of Vic,
have participated. In this last edition the University Pompeu Fabra and the University
of Lleida took part, also.
