Nausicaä Centre National de la Mer: the largest aquarium in Europe
Discovering and better appreciating the sea, life and a source of wealth for today and tomorrow is the mission that Nausicaä set itself from the outset. It is a project hatched from the minds of ocean lovers in the early 1980s. It was about creating a new type of aquarium, a center for the sea, which would make it possible to raise awareness among the general public about issues related to the ocean. It is in the north of France, in Boulogne-sur-Mer. In May 2018 Nausicaá was extended to become one of the largest aquariums in Europe. With the support of the consortium and its president Frédéric Cuvillier, mayor of Boulogne-sur-Mer, this aquarium attracts approximately 1 million visitors every year.
