Memo BanSabadell disinvestment
March 3, 2017Eloi Planes Corts, president of the board of directors of Fluidra S.A., the listed Spanish multinational group devoted to the development of applications for the sustainable use of water in Pools & Wellness, expressed his thanks for the long-standing and sustained support of Banc Sabadell over the 15 years the bank has had a shareholding in the company.
Banc Sabadell became a shareholder of 20% of Fluidra’s capital in 2002 and maintained a 5% shareholding until yesterday. Planes described this withdrawal as “an inevitable step in a path that had been charted well in advance”.
Following the bank’s sale of its shareholding, Carles Ventura Santamans put his post as dominical director in the hands of Fluidra’s board of directors, a matter that will be decided at its next meeting.
Fluidra’s founding families (Serra, Corbera, Planes and Garrigós) continue to control a total of 50% of its share capital personally and via family offices. Following the operation, the free float will be 50%, an increase of 5%. This greater volume will increase the liquidity of the company’s stock.
Fluidra disclosed its 2016 results to the Spanish Securities Commission last Monday. It reported profit of 24.1 million euros, up 85.2% on the previous year, and showed record sales in its history of 713.3 million euros, which translates as a rise of 10.2%.
