Madrid will improve the efficiency of its water sports facilities
November 11, 2010Santiago Castellanos, president of the Madrid Swimming Federation,
and Amadeu Serra, the managing director of Fluidra's SWE Division
acting on behalf of Wayfit, signed a collaboration agreement today
that will enable the people of Madrid to enjoy better swimming
facilities.
Wayfit, a company specialised in the comprehensive management
of this type of facility, will advise the Federation on how to improve
the efficiency and management of the M-86 and Guadarrama sports
centres in Madrid.
The subsidiary of the multinational group Fluidra, Wayfit, a
leading company in the comprehensive management of swimming facilities, will be
involved in the planning, design and construction of the facilities, as well as providing
comprehensive management services in order to improve efficiency. The Madrid
Swimming Federation (FMN) has chosen this company as a consultant and strategic
partner to improve the management and efficiency of every facet of its water sports
facilities. Initially, the intervention will cover the M-86 and Guadarrama sports
centres.
Today at the Federation's headquarters, the president of the FMN, Santiago
Castellanos, signed a collaboration agreement with Wayfit, which will be responsible
for analysing ways of improving the swimming facilities in Madrid in terms of
management, the services offered, energy efficiency and water savings. Amadeu
Serra, the managing director of Fluidra's SWE Division, signed the collaboration
agreement on behalf of Wayfit.
Wayfit will initially begin its consultancy tasks by analysing the swimming and sports
facilities that the Federation manages. The FMN manages the pool built for the 1986
World Swimming Championships, popularly known as the M-86. This facility, which belongs to the Autonomous Community of Madrid, has become a point of reference
thanks to the staging of top international events, such as the World and European
championships, and the International Diving Grand Prix.
The Federation is also responsible for managing the facilities in Guadarrama,
Majadahonda, and the Fabián Roncero municipal pool, in Madrid's San Blas district.
The Madrid Swimming Federation, a not-for-profit organisation, already has 4,800
federated licence holders in the four official disciplines (swimming, water polo, diving
and synchronised swimming) and 50 associate clubs. The FMN runs a full training
programme for youth, which is beginning to bear fruit among Madrid's young
sportspeople.
The agreement also includes the extension of the fitness areas in the FMN's facilities.
Thanks to an existing agreement between Wayfit and Life Fitness, the Federation will
be equipped with fitness machines by the world's leading designer and wholesaler of
such equipment.
The collaboration between Wayfit and the Madrid Swimming Federation is seen as a
positive step by Fluidra's senior management. Through its subsidiary, the
multinational will apply all of its know-how in the development of sustainable policies
and products, and it will likewise gain first-hand experience of the daily management
of major sports infrastructures, such a those found in Madrid.
