Eloi Planes, Fluidra’s managing director, wins the Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 Award
February 19, 2010Eloi Planes, Fluidra’s CEO, has been named Entrepreneur of the Year 2009, an
award programme sponsored by Ernst & Young in partnership with IESE, BNP
Paribas Fortis, Repsol and Negocio, a business newspaper.
The judging panel, which reviewed 15 entries, announced its decision
yesterday at the awards ceremony held at the Casino de Madrid in the presence of
leading business figures.
Eloi Planes, Fluidra’s CEO, a multinational group specialising in the development of
applications for the sustainable use of water, was awarded yesterday the title of
Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 by Ernst & Young, in partnership with IESE, BNP
Paribas Fortis, Repsol and Negocio, a business newspaper. The Entrepreneur of the
Year 2009 title is a prestigious award that recognises the drive and passion behind
innovative entrepreneurs and businesses.
The award programme, which this year celebrated its fourteenth anniversary in
Spain, recognises the role of Spain’s most dynamic companies in creating jobs and
wealth. The judging panel comprised of leading business figures reviewed 15 entries
and decided to award first prize to Eloi Planes, in recognition of his outstanding
business acumen, sense of innovation, social commitment and management of the
Fluidra multinational group. The award is a public recognition of the business
achievements of entrepreneurs who, in addition to being shareholders of their
companies, are the main driving forces behind the success of the businesses that
they run.
Eloi Planes expressed his gratitude and satisfaction for receiving this award, saying:

entrepreneurs is a great honour, not only for me but also for Fluidra’s more than
3,000 employees, with whom I would like to share this award”.
Fluidra’s CEO will represent Spain at Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the World
Award that will be held in Monte Carlo at the beginning of June with winners from
over 49 countries.
